Bicycle Riding

Elisabeth is steadily getting the hang of riding her bicycle (with training wheels). It goes much better on a slight decline where she isn't reminded that her bicycle has 0 mechanical advatage, and weighs as much as mine. On the slight decline, she can pedal and steer (when not looking over her shoulder) the length of an entire city block. That is a massive improvement from a month ago when we couldn't do more than two revolutions of the pedals - and don't even think about steering!

(Update: I wrote this yesterday, before learning that sometime in the previous night Elisabeth's bicycle had been stolen. So you can pray for wisdom in how to help a toddler understand a world in which someone would steal a child's bicycle.)

Oh dear-- that's a tough lesson for a little girl to learn so young. How has she responded? Let us know how it goes.

Thanks, Haley. So far I don't think she really understands that her bicycle has been stolen. (Her stroller was stolen some months ago, and she understands that, but for some reason hasn't transferred the undestanding of what it means for something to be stolen from the stroller to the bicycle.

We'll keep you posted.
