What's in your hand?

This morning I had an interesting experience climbing stairs. I was carrying the stroller, and Elisabeth was walking. However, to my chagrin, she wasn't holding the railing, but was putting her little fist on the railing. So I asked her, "Elisabeth, what's in your hand?"

"Hamburger," she replied.
About 15 minutes before we had been pretending to cook food (one of Elisabeth's favorite games). She had prepared hamburgers, and she wasn't about to let them go (or pretend that they weren't there!) to hold onto the railing.

When I told her to hold the railing properly, I watched her shift the imaginary hamburger to the other fist before taking hold of the railing. Imagination is a powerful thing!
