Mesopotamia

Last week we read in Elisabeth's children's Bible about God calling Abraham out of Ur of the Chaldeans. In the margin, the Bible noted a little of the history of Mesopotamia. Just for fun, I asked Elisabeth to try to articulate it, and she did! So far as I know, it is her first six syllable word!

You might have mentioned it already, but what children's Bible do you use? Kari

For some time we have used "The Beginner's Bible" (Zonderkidz), but I wanted something with a little more depth, so we've started using "Illustrated Family Bible Stories"(Paragon). It has many more stories, in much more depth, but I don't like the liberties it takes in its paraphrase. Although I thought The Beginner's Bible was oversimplified, I thought it was generally quite faithful to the text. I'm not as impressed with this one, even though it has far better historical/cultural background in the margins.
