The Plymouth Thanksgiving

I'm terrible about finding good books to help Elisabeth understand holidays. I always wait until the last minute, and then find the library shelves empty of quality literature. However, this time there was still The Plymouth Thanksgiving on the shelves. Though it is a long read for Elisabeth, it does a great job of setting the context of the first Thanksgiving, based on William Bradford's diary. I learned a lot in reading it!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Although it is not specifically children's literature, I've heard a lot of good recommendations for Barbara Rainey's "Thanksgiving: A Time to Remember" and hope to get a copy for our family once it is restocked. It's posted on the Family Life web site at http://www.familylife.com/1-800-358-6329/detail.asp?id=7284. In this book you'll find a family reading (approx. 45 mins.) about the Pilgrims' first Thanksgiving which recounts God's many incredible provisions for them during their early and difficult days in America.
