Lemonade map

Over the course of the past few weeks, Elisabeth has banged up the bottom of the world map in her room. It is within range of her feet when she is lying on her bed, and somehow those little toes tend to mangle the paper. When it fell down (due at least in part to being much touched by little toes), I told her that I would have to replace it with a laminated map. Since that time has been asking,

When are we going to get a lemonade map to find Afghanistan?

Have you seen those maps that show countries at their true size and proportion? I'm sure you've already gotten a new map for Elizabeth, but if you haven't, the ones on this website are great:

So many of the maps we get distort the true size of countries - continents like Africa are actually a lot larger than depicted on most maps! I wonder how that affects the way we think about countries and our world in general...

Wow, Karina, thanks! I did find a 8 1/2 x 11 laminated map that we now carry around with us that has the US on one side and the world on the other. I love the fact that it is portable . . . but that means we haven't yet gotten a wall map - and the Peters' projection looks fascinating. Thanks!
